Weekend Picks: Philadelphia Flower Show, Restaurant Weeks, Last Chance For RiverRink Winterfest And More

The first weekend of March in Philly brings a preview of spring!

The PHS Philadelphia Flower Show — the largest and longest-running horticultural event in the country — opens on Saturday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center for a nine-day run of vibrant displays, fascinating demonstrations and the FTD World Cup, the most prestigious floral design competition in the world.

This weekend also offers two great chances to enjoy the brisk, pre-spring air: the 13th annual outdoor Philly Craft Beer Festival at The Navy Yard (Saturday) and and ice skating and arcade games at Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest, which wraps up for the season on Sunday.

Hungry? Two of Philly’s charming neighborhoods offer indulgent food experiences with tasty fixed-price menus, as East Passyunk Restaurant Week runs all weekend and Chestnut Hill Restaurant Week ends its run Friday.

And it’s a big weekend for the arts in Philly. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater takes over the Academy of Music (Friday and Saturday), First Friday brings events to small business corridors around the city and the first Sunday of the month means free or discounted admission at major museums.

Select concerts this weekend are part of the Visit Philly Live Nation Hotel Package, which includes free hotel and concert parking, complimentary food and drinks during the show and other bonuses.

And don’t miss a chance to turn a fun weekend into a sleepover! Book the Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package for a winter weekend getaway featuring more than $200 in free perks.
